October 5 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am$25
2019 Tranquille Heritage Tours will be offered in September and October. Please check Heritage Tours dates on the Tranquille Farm Fresh calendar. Tours are scheduled Saturday mornings at 10am throughout September and October. Participants must be onsite no later than 9:45am. The cost is $25 per person plus GST and an online booking fee. Due to high demand, tickets will be sold online this year, not at the gate. Tour capacity is 25 people. They are typically 90 minutes in length. We unpack 6,000 years of site history and often have visitors contribute to the tour with their stories of connection to Tranquille. You are welcome to take pictures on our tour as long as it is not disruptive to the other participants. We share the history of Tranquille as a series of linked stories that reach back to the last ice age and carry listeners through indigenous people’s presence on the land, the early fur trade, the development of BC, the 1858 Gold Rush, the development of the BC’s cattle industry, and the dramatic role Tranquille played in the history of each. You will learn more about how today’s ghost town was created and why, as you move around the site, through a building or two, and down through a piece of Tranquille’s legendary tunnel system. We use a tractor pulled trailer to move around the site. Please wear good walking shoes and come prepared for the weather.
